Jacqui Dodds

Practice Manager

I have worked with Paragon Veterinary Group since 2003 within the Support team as Practice Manager.  My role mainly revolves around people by supporting my colleagues throughout the Practice (currently there are 62 of us employed) as well as providing Client Care to our valued clients and their animals.  We have a busy home looking after our horses, dogs, hen and Charlie the cat.  We enjoy competing with the horses via British Eventing where we visit venues throughout the UK and occasionally beyond as well as spending valuable time with our family and friends, consequently we have no spare time!

Diane Armstrong

Centre Manager/ XLVet Co-ordinator

My name is Diane Armstrong and I am Centre Manager at Dalston I have been with Paragon since March 2002.
My role is varied and involves reception duties, stock control, staff training, building maintenance and I am the XL Vets Co-Ordinator for Paragon.

I have seen lots of changes over the years. One being the extension to the Dalston surgery which was completed in 2011, I worked alongside the builders to project manage this. We now have a fantastic new Reception area with 4 consulting rooms, a nurse’s clinic room and lots of room for all. Dogs and Cats now have their own waiting areas.

Outside of work I love travelling in this country and abroad. I have 2 wonderful grandchildren who I spend as much time as I can with and they keep me on my toes.

Julie Crawford

Coordinator / Credit Control

I moved up to Cumbria in 2007 . I am born and bred from the fabulous city of Liverpool. I worked on reception in a busy veterinary hospital in Liverpool for 4 years.  
I joined Paragon in 2009 as practice co ordinator and I also work alongside management as part of credit control. My role within the practice is to organise the veterinary diary, arranging Large animal and Equine call outs. I deal with small animal enquiries on the phone on a daily basis. I’ve recently rescued my dog Vinny and enjoy taking him out for walks.

Andrea Longcake

Head Receptionist - Dalston

I am based at the Dalston surgery.  My main roles in the practice are working in reception, ordering and control of stock.  I am a qualified SQP (suitably qualified person) in small animal, farm animal and equine. This involved studying and a final exam to qualify which gave me the understanding and authorisation to prescribe most wormers and flea treatment. I have worked here for 13 years plus and feel very fortunate to be doing something which I really love.

I have two grown up children who are married and I have the pleasure of three beautiful Grandsons. I enjoy walking with my husband and Norfolk Terrier Ted and have also just taken up Boogie Bounce (exercise on a trampoline) with Karen (Head Nurse at Paragon).

Dawn Allonby

Receptionist - Dalston and London Road

I started working for Paragon in January 2010 and I am a Receptionist at the Dalston

surgery. I come from a farming background - my Dad and Grandad were both Fell Farmers in South Lakeland, and several members of my family have been involved in Fell Pony breeding.

My own career started in the tourism sector, so this is quite a change, but one that I really enjoy.

In my spare time I enjoy walking my Cockapoo Winnie.

Suzanne Pollock

Business Manager

I joined Paragon in August 2008 having worked at a local Accountancy practice.

I started my role as Accounts Assistant and during the past 10 years my role has progressed and evolved into a Management position of Finance Lead.  We have recently converted our Accounts package to Cloud Software and are heading towards a paperless office!

In my younger days I was an active member of Raughton Head Young Farmers and held various posts.  My highlight was performing in the National Entertainment Finals at the Winter Gardens Theatre in Blackpool.

Outside of work I enjoy socialising with friends and family and I have recently joined the gym, I never thought I would get out of bed before work to attend a class so I have shocked myself!

Joanne Laidlow

Accounts Assistant

I joined Paragon in May 2014 as a part-time Accounts assistant.  My hobbies include cycling, swimming & spending quality time with my two daughters.  

I have a gorgeous chocolate brown Cockapoo called Milo who I love taking out for walks and a lop eared rabbit called fudge.

Emily Tinning

Farm Vet Tech and Administrator

I joined Paragon in October 2015 as Farm Animal Administrator based at our Dalston branch. I now also do Vet Tech work such as disbudding calves, calf monitoring and mobility scoring.

I grew up on our family dairy farm. I previously worked for an accountancy company preparing farm accounts and prior to that for a finance company for 5 years from leaving school. 

Outside of work I enjoy helping out on the farm, fell walking and socialising with friends. 

Gina Harrison

Accounts Administrator

I joined Paragon in March 2018 as a part time Accounts Administrator.  I grew up on our family farm and have worked in accountancy practices for the last 14 years preparing accounts and tax returns.  I have also gained my Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification.

In my spare time I enjoy running, cycling and spending time with my partner Warren, teenage step daughter Kaylee and our baby girl Anna.

Alison Taylor

Receptionist - Dalston and Newbiggin

I Joined Paragon in November 2011 and work on reception at Newbiggin and Dalston, I live on a farm and enjoy the showing of sheep and cattle with my husband and 3 children, we show all different breeds and manage to collect rosettes along the way, we also now have 5 small dogs which I love having, even though 3 of them are supposed to belong to the children.

Rosie Dunbar

Receptionist
I came to work at Paragon in May 2014  as a Veterinary Receptionist after many years in a career working in a public relation and communications role.
I have always loved animals, wildlife and the country side, so to change to a career where I could be around animals in my work brings me a lot of satisfaction.  I am proud to be part of such an excellent team at Paragon.
I have a three year old very energetic fox red Labrador called Charlie who I love to walk in the countryside and on the beach.
My partner and I share a love of travelling and have visited many European cities, experiencing the different cultures.

Karen McNeil

Coordinator

I joined Paragon in 2016 originally as a coordinator recently I have taken up a new role within the practice as Farm administrator/Vet Tech. I am currently training to be a Farm SQP (suitably qualified person), once qualified I will be able to advise and supply VPS products such as wormers, flukicides and fly control.

Outside of work I enjoy helping out on a local dairy farm and am kept busy looking after two young children and a hyperactive labradoodle. Any spare time I get I enjoy hitting the tarmac and getting out for a run exploring the local countryside.

Jane Holland

Practice Coordinator

I joined the paragon team in 2006 as Practice Coordinator at Dalston and moved to the Newbiggin branch in 2013 as Support Administrator. I provide support to colleagues across all sectors and focus very much on client care and teamwork.

I am married to Geoff and we live and farm at Hesket-Newmarket and also run a busy holiday cottage. We have two grown up sons and a granddaughter and enjoy spending family time together. Any spare time that I have, I enjoy walking with our two border terriers and also tending to our large garden as an attraction for our cottage visitors.

Paul Robinson

Large Animal Technician
I joined the Paragon team in 2014 in a Large Animal Technician role after many years experience working as a herdsman on mixed farms. 
My role includes care of the resident farm livestock at the Newbiggin centre and support for the cattle advanced breeding, sheep embryo transfer and sheep A.I. programmes. 
A native of Cumbria I am married with two grownup children. My interests outside of work include music, travel, landscape photography, football and American Football.

Kelly Smith - BSc (hons) SQP-J

Equine Technician

I have worked at Paragon since October 2008, currently only working part time due to family commitments.  Prior to working here I had just completed an Equine Sports Science degree at Nottingham Trent University.  I work within the equine department at Newbiggin, both on and off site and occasionally assist with other large animal work.  I am responsible for looking after the equine in-patients at Newbiggin and assisting the vets with clincal work.  I also help to organise the equine diary, liase with clients and complete office paperwork.

Outside of work I have two small boys; James and Charlie.  I also have a few horses at home; ranging from youngsters to a kids pony. I compete at BS shows where possible.

Sian Edwards - SQP-J

Equine Technician

I joined Paragon in November 2017 to work within the equine department.  I am responsible for the day to day care of any inpatients at Newbiggin and assist the vets with any clinical work. I also help to organise the equine diary, liase with clients and complete paperwork. 

I have had horses for many years and have previously worked on an Eventing yard.  I currently own Lili and Flea whom I plan to compete on locally both at dressage and eventing.

Jenny Turner

Advanced Breeding Project Manager

I have been working for Paragon Veterinary Group since 2011 in my role as Advanced breeding Project Manager. I am currently managing two Technology Strategy Board Collaborative Projects involved with IVF in Cattle and Genomic Selection of Bovine Embryos, supporting Stuart Mullan and David Black who are leading this initiative.
Outside work I live on a farm with my husband James and we keep a variety of interesting animals including hens, waterfowl, wallabies and reindeer. I have two grown up children Kate and Daniel and one little granddaughter in Scotland who I see as often as I can.

James and I are currently renovating a small derelict farm which is taking up most of our time and energy and we are the proud owners of 5 Longhorn cattle. I am a keen swimmer and enjoy walking when I get any spare time!

Charlotte Morphet

IVP/E.T Laboratory Manager

I joined Paragon in the summer of 2013 as part of the activf ET team after finishing my studies in Biomedical Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University. I am part of the commercial and research teams that deliver bovine IVF and Embryo transfer.

I live at my family home on a hill farm. I enjoy many sports and social activities but mainly pursue passions in Horses and Rugby.

Emily Arter

IVP Laboratory Technician

I joined Paragon's Advanced Breeding team in November 2016, where my main role is as an IVF lab technician. My other roles include ET and OPU lab technicianing as well as kit sterilisation and packing.

Outside of work I enjoy an array of sports and outdoor pursuits. I have recently started doing triathalons which keeps me busy alongside competing my horse.

 

Karen Smith

E.T General Assistant

I joined Paragon's Embryo Transfer team in 2013. My main role is as a flush and IVF technician. My other duties include sterilising and preparing kits, and record keeping.

Outwith work my time is mainly spent helping on my parent's beef, sheep and arable farm and on my boyfriend's dairy farm.

Jackie Edgar

Embryo Technician
I joined the Paragon Advanced Breeding team in summer 2014, having previously worked on a dairy farm and studied Animal Science at Newcastle University. 
 
Outside of work I am the secretary of a small agricultural show and spend most of my spare time working on the family hill farm.
