We are a 3 centre veterinary practice extending the length of the Cumbrian M6 corridor. The role is primarily based at Newbiggin, Penrith, within easy reach of the Lake District.
Our highly motivated Vet Tech team is supported by the wider farm animal clinical team, to deliver top quality on-farm services to our clients and in-clinic farm admin support services. Full details can be found here.

Job Description:
- Co-ordination and working as a team to deliver our on-farm Vet Tech services, to include (but not limited to)
-Stress-Free Disbudding of calves
- Mobility Scoring (ROMs accredited)
- Freeze Branding
- TB Test Assistance (on farm scribing/assisting tester)
- Multi-species Parasite Faecal Egg Counting & reporting of results
- Calf Health Club including taking of bloods / Flock Health Club assistance
- Body Condition Scoring
- TB Testing - Co-ordinate booking of tests and assist when required to input TB tests online ready for Veterinary/tester submission. There is the potential to train as an approved TB Tester (ATT) for the right candidate.
- Promoting our Farm Services by attending agricultural shows and events at auction marts
- Organise farm meetings or events (both in-house and on-farm), including venue and refreshments
- Assorted admin roles to include (but not limited to):
- Help to co-ordinate farm equipment including servicing and repairs eg. scanner, dehorner, clippers
- Extraction of information from our Practice Management System and analysis
- Herd and Flock Health Medicine Collations
- Vaccine and herd/flock health reminders
- Working alongside the practice marketing team to organise material and produce our quarterly Farm Newsletter
- Coordinate & work alongside farm vets to assist and submit lab samples
- Checking of invoices following invoice run & charging of monthly fees including PPL and farm attendance. Regular checks of farm teams booking work throughout the month to assist with month-end invoice run.
- Assist with credit control of farm accounts through liaison with farm sector lead and practice credit control team
- Contribute to the support staff/admin rotas and be able to cover front desk duties as and when needed, including all 3 branches of the practice. - Engage in CPD and actively seek to promote & expand the vet tech services we offer
The successful applicant should have:
- farm livestock handling experience, although full training will be given
- a clean, full UK driving licence
- a minimum of English and Maths GCSEs or equivalent grade A - C
- a basic range of computer skills
The successful applicant will be encouraged to undertake further training, including the Vet Tech Apprenticeship qualification based at Harper Adams, fully funded by the practice.
