We have an exciting opportunity for a new graduate to join our farm vet team. We are part of
a 3 centre multidisciplinary independent practice, with 14 farm vets including multiple
certificate and diploma holders.
Based in North Cumbria, the Lake District National Park is on our doorstep and there is
plenty of opportunity to explore what this beautiful area has to offer.
We promote a good work life balance with a 4.5 working week as standard, time in lieu for
overtime (when not on call) and 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays.
For our new graduates we provide extensive support including:
- Back up on call
- Regular visits to routine farms shadowing vets to learn scanning skills
- Monthly reviews
- Mentoring
- Enrolment in the XL vets farm new graduate development programme
- Vet socials.
We are a friendly and supportive team, with a low staff turnover, which values the
importance of job satisfaction. We work closely with our progressive clients who are
proactive and motivated. We have a strong dairy client base, including Arla 360 farms, as
well as servicing progressive beef and sheep farms, including an active flock health club. We
encourage vets to pursue their own specific areas of interest, of which there are plenty of
options.
We provide a high standard of service to our clients through proactive health planning
utilising all the usual tools and software plus abdominal laparoscopic surgery, VetTech
services, foot trimming services, farmer training, an advanced breeding department in
addition to providing overseas farm consultancy.
CPD is strongly encouraged as are specialist interests and further qualifications - all
supported by certificate and diploma holders.
