Awards and Accreditations

At Paragon we strive to provide an excellent service and to try to maintain these standards we have several accreditation's with different organisations and have been recognised with some awards

Cat friendly Clinic

At Paragon we deal with all creatures great and small, but we are aware that the approach for handling, treating and examining must vary depending on the species and the individual animal; as such we have tried to adopt the Cat Friendly approach for our feline patients.

Paragon are an accredited Cat Friendly Clinic at Dalston.

Being a Cat Friendly Clinic means that Paragon have reached a higher standard of cat care in that our staff:

  • Understand the needs of cats and have made visits to the vet clinic more cat friendly
  • Understand how to approach and handle cats gently and with care
  • Have good knowledge and equipment to manage the care of cats

Achieving Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation involved additional training and work for all staff; receptionists, nurses and vets. For more information please click here.

Each accredited clinic also has a ‘Cat Advocate’ – someone who ensures the cat friendly standards are adhered to, and who would be happy to talk to you. Ann Noble is our Cat Advocate.

Please use our separate cat waiting area when you visit the practice and make use of our cat towers for your cat baskets.

Compassion Understood Platinum

Compassion Understood provide owners with pet loss support whilst assisting the veterinary sector with bereavement services.

At Paragon we understand that this is the most difficult time for owners and we want to be able to provide as much support as possible for our clients whilst caring for their pets. To help provide this our clinical and support staff have all undergone specific training in this area.

Royal Canin Weight Management Centre

We are one of a small number of Veterinary practices in the UK that are a qualified Royal Canin Weight Management Centre. This means the whole Paragon team believes weight management is essential in ensuring the pets in our care have healthy, happy lives.

With training and support from Royal Canin we are able to assess body condition and with our Weight Clinics we can ensure your pet is on a path to achieving or maintaining an ideal body condition and weight.

Rabbit friendly Clinic

We understand that rabbits need time and attention, especially when being handled, treated and examined.

At Paragon, we have been awarded the silver level rabbit friendly status by the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund.

This means that we are part of a nationwide list of Rabbit friendly Vets and can call on advice from a specialist vet at the association. The status is awarded to veterinary practices that show a greater degree of knowledge of rabbit care.

Being a Rabbit friendly Clinic means that we have steps in place to ensure rabbits are happy and comfortable when in our care, including:

  • Separate kenneling
  • Specific anaesthetic protocol
  • Growing our own "rabbit garden" to tempt any unwell rabbits to start eating again.
Carlisle Living Awards 2019

Paragon Veterinary Group were delighted to make the final and then win the Best Professional Services Team at the 2019 Carlisle Living Awards. With nearly 3000 nominations in the awards in 2019 it was an honour to win and a fitting testament to the hard work of the fantastic team at Paragon.
