Tess's Operation

Below are a series of photographs taken during a routine operation at Townhead Veterinary Centre.  Tess is a collie, and was in for a routine spay.  The vet featured is Ann Noble, while the veterinary nurse is Andrea Rudd.  You can click on each of the thumbnail images to see a larger picture, but please note that some of the images of the operation are quite graphic! Please note that not every detail of the operation is shown - these images are only to give an indication of some of the procedures.

Tess is examined prior to her operation.
Tess receives a premed injection from the Vet.
She is given an intravenous injection to anaesthetise her.
An endotracheal tube is placed.
The endotracheal tube is secured.
Tess is connected to an anaesthetic circuit.
An oesophageal stethoscope is connected to help monitor the anaesthetic.
Tess is placed on her back, and the hair clipped from the operation site.
The vet scrubs her hands.....
.....while the nurse scrubs the operating site.
The vet puts on a sterile gown and sterile gloves.
The operating kit.
The operation begins.....
.....and is soon completed.
The nurse monitors the anaesthetic throughout the operation.
Within half an hour Tess is back on her feet.
