All ten bone screws have been placed. This is important as unfilled screw holes significantly weaken the plate and are avoided if at all possible. The fracture line is visible in the centre of the bone. You can see a small area of missing bone here just under the plate - this was the position of one of the tiny bone fragments mentioned above. You can see how this small gap will slightly weaken the overall repair. This is a good example of how important a good pre-operative plan is - in this case a stronger bone plate was used than might otherwise have been needed.
