This X-ray shows that both the patient's hips have been dislocated in the accident. There are no fractures visible affecting the pelvis or femurs (top leg bones). This is quite an unusual injury and it was important to rule out any predisposing factor e.g. hip dysplasia. This might have made repair much more difficult. Fortunately there was no evidence from the X-rays of a pre-existing problem.
