AVIAN INFLUENZA PREVENTION ZONE - UPDATE 
9 February 2017

The Avian Influenza Prevention Zone covering England will be amended on 28 February. Plans for expected enhanced biosecurity in England have been announced by Defra. More info at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/avian-influenza-bird-flu….
The Avian Influenza Prevention Zone covering Scotland will remain in force until the end of April. From 28 February keepers in Scotland will have the option of letting birds outside, subject to enhanced biosecurity to minimise the risk of infection from wild birds.   • Learn about heat detection and AI timing in cattle
  • Learn how to safely store and handle straws of semen
  • Learn the structures relevant to AI in cattle
  • Learn how to prepare and load an AI gun
  • Learn to pass the AI gun through the cervix of heifers and cows using the two stage theory technique
  • Learn how to look at fertility data to assess performance
  • Gain DEFRA certification for AI
