Jacqui Dodds

Practice Manager

I started with Paragon Veterinary Group in Oct 2003 as Co-ordinator. My family and I have a busy home looking after our horses, dogs, cat, chickens and sheep. As Practice Manager I have many aspects to my role, providing Client Care, dealing with Client Accounts, looking after Personnel whilst having a general overview of the Practice in addition to providing support to both the Management and Equine Teams.

Diane Armstrong

Centre Manager/ XLVet Co-ordinator

My name is Diane Armstrong and I am Centre Manager at Dalston I have been with Paragon since March 2002.
My role is varied and involves reception duties, stock control, staff training, building maintenance and I am the XL Vets Co-Ordinator for Paragon.

I have seen lots of changes over the years. One being the extension to the Dalston surgery which was completed in 2011, I worked alongside the builders to project manage this. We now have a fantastic new Reception area with 4 consulting rooms, a nurse’s clinic room and lots of room for all. Dogs and Cats now have their own waiting areas.

Outside of work I love travelling in this country and abroad. I have 2 wonderful grandchildren who I spend as much time as I can with and they keep me on my toes.

Julie Crawford

Coordinator / Credit Control

I'm practice co-ordinater based at Dalston. I joined Paragon Vets in 2009 but have been in the Veterinary profession for approx 10 years. My hometown is Liverpool of which I'm proud. I moved to Cumbria in 2007 with my sister and my 2 dogs.

Andrea Longcake

Head Receptionist - Dalston

I am Head Receptionist based at Dalston.  My main roles in the practice are working in reception, ordering and control of stock.  I am a qualified SQP (suitably qualified person) in small animal, farm animal and equine. This involved studying and a final exam to qualify which gave me the understanding and authorisation to prescribe most wormers and flea treatment.

I have two grown up children who have now left home and three dogs Jake, Skye and Maddie who i enjoy taking for walks with my husband Philip.

Dawn Allonby

Receptionist - Dalston and London Road

I am a Co-ordinator and Receptionist at both the Dalston and London Road surgeries.
I come from a farming background - my Dad and Grandad were both Fell Farmers in south Lakeland, and several members of my family have been involved in Fell Pony breeding. 
My own career has been in the tourism sector, so this is quite a change, but I'm really loving it!
I love to read - when I get the time - and I used to be a very keen horse-rider, though I haven't been in the saddle for ages.

Suzanne Pollock

Business Manager

I started with Paragon in August 2008 as Accounts Assistant based at our Dalston branch.  Before moving to Paragon I worked at a local accountancy practice where I gained my Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification. 
As Business Manager my role is varied and includes day to day accounting through to preparing Management Accounts and financial information.  I manage our Practice Management Software and oversee our Company Vehicles whilst having a general overview of the Business.

Outside of work I am an active member of Raughton Head Young Farmers where I have held several posts at District, County and Area level. I enjoy organising events and also competing in the Entertainments competition where we have performed at Winter Gardens Theatre in Blackpool.

In my spare time I enjoy socialising with friends and helping out on the family farm.

Joanne Laidlow

Accounts Assistant

I joined Paragon in May 2014 as a part-time Accounts assistant.  My hobbies include cycling, swimming & spending quality time with my two daughters.  We have a black lop eared rabbit called treacle whom we regularly take for a 'Hop' on his lead!

Emily Tinning

Farm Vet Tech and Administrator

I joined Paragon in October 2015 as Farm Animal Administrator based at our Dalston branch. I now also do Vet Tech work such as disbudding calves, calf monitoring and mobility scoring. I grew up on our family farm where we moved from 10+ years ago. I previously worked for an accountancy company preparing farm accounts and prior to that for a finance company for 5 years from leaving school. 

Outside of work I enjoy helping out on my partners beef/sheep farm and being out and about socialising. 

Alison Taylor

Receptionist - Dalston and Newbiggin

I am from a farming family in Sedbergh, and am now married to a farmer and we have 3 children, I love all animals and enjoy seeing the variety of animals that attend the practice.
Any spare time I spend taking the children to all their activities or helping out on the farm.

Rosie Dunbar

Receptionist
I came to work at Paragon in May 2014  as a Veterinary Receptionist after many years in a career working in a public relation and communications role.
I have always loved animals, wildlife and the country side, so to change to a career where I could be around animals in my work brings me a lot of satisfaction.  I am proud to be part of such an excellent team at Paragon.
I have a three year old very energetic fox red Labrador called Charlie who I love to walk in the countryside and on the beach.
My partner and I share a love of travelling and have visited many European cities, experiencing the different cultures.

Karen McNeil

Coordinator

I am a part time practice co-ordinator based at Dalston working along side Julie Crawford. I have been around farming all my life most recently relief milking on local dairy farms. Before taking time out of work to have children I worked as administrator for an agricultural/plant machinery dealer. In my spare time I am kept busy with my 2 children Finn and Paige and our labradoodle. We enjoy attending agricultural shows and auctions as I have a keen interest in dairy cattle and horses and hope to be able to return to horse riding in the near future.

Jane Holland

Practice Coordinator

I am practice co-ordinator and telephonist based at Newbiggin; my duties include organising the vets visits and data inputing. Outside of work I enjoy helping at home on the farm. I have two sons who keep me busy too!

Roger Holliday

Farm and Maintenance Manager

I am responsible for the farm at Townhead Veterinary Centre.  I look after all the farm stock at Newbiggin, and have a particular interest in the advanced breeding programmes in both cattle and sheep.

Paul Robinson

Large Animal Technician
I joined the Paragon team in 2014 in a Large Animal Technician role after many years experience working as a herdsman on mixed farms. 
My role includes care of the resident farm livestock at the Newbiggin centre and support for the cattle advanced breeding, sheep embryo transfer and sheep A.I. programmes. 
A native of Cumbria I am married with two grownup children. My interests outside of work include music, travel, landscape photography, football and American Football.

Kelly Smith - BSc (hons)

Equine Technician

I have worked at Paragon since October 2008.  Prior to working here I had just completed an Equine Sports Science degree at Nottingham Trent University.  I work within the equine department at Newbiggin, both on and off site and occasionally assist with other large animal work.  I am responsible for caring for the equine in-patients at Newbiggin and assisting with lameness investigations and surgery.

Outside of work I have recently had a baby and have a range of horses at home:from youngsters to an old pony. I compete regularly at BS shows with my horse Kimberly and many of you may see me at local shows.

Jenny Turner

Advanced Breeding Project Manager

I have been working for Paragon Veterinary Group since 2011 in my role as Advanced breeding Project Manager. I am currently managing two Technology Strategy Board Collaborative Projects involved with IVF in Cattle and Genomic Selection of Bovine Embryos, supporting Stuart Mullan and David Black who are leading this initiative.
Outside work I live on a farm with my husband James and we keep a variety of interesting animals including hens, waterfowl, wallabies and reindeer. I have two grown up children Kate and Daniel and one little granddaughter in Scotland who I see as often as I can.

James and I are currently renovating a small derelict farm which is taking up most of our time and energy and we are the proud owners of 5 Longhorn cattle. I am a keen swimmer and enjoy walking when I get any spare time!

IVP/E.T Laboratory Manager

I joined Paragon in the summer of 2013 as part of the activf ET team after finishing my studies in Biomedical Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University. I am part of the commercial and research teams that deliver bovine IVF and Embryo transfer.

I live at my family home on a hill farm. I enjoy many sports and social activities but mainly pursue passions in Horses and Rugby.

IVP Laboratory Technician

I joined Paragon's Advanced Breeding team in November 2016, where my main role is as an IVF lab technician. My other roles include ET and OPU lab technicianing as well as kit sterilisation and packing.

Outside of work I enjoy an array of sports and outdoor pursuits. I have recently started doing triathalons which keeps me busy alongside competing my horse.

 

Karen Smith

E.T General Assistant

I joined Paragon's Embryo Transfer team in 2013. My main role is as a flush and IVF technician. My other duties include sterilising and preparing kits, and record keeping.

Outwith work my time is mainly spent helping on my parent's beef, sheep and arable farm and on my boyfriend's dairy farm.

I joined the Paragon Advanced Breeding team in summer 2014, having previously worked on a dairy farm and studied Animal Science at Newcastle University. 
 
Outside of work I am the secretary of a small agricultural show and spend most of my spare time working on the family hill farm.

Jude Urwin

Dog Groomer

Jude is our fully qualified dog groomer, and has been with Paragon for 9 years.  Jude has a wealth of experience in the dog world from breeding and showing her own pedigree Rottweilers, Lancashire Healers and Pugs. She has a keen interest in dog behaviour, training and obedience as well as enjoying continued success within the showing world.  She has achieved show wins all over the country including the prestigious Crufts Dog Show.  As well as grooming her own dogs she also regularly grooms some of our client’s dogs who have also gained success at Crufts.
